"Natural Bridge Over the Kicking Horse River"

This photo shows the powerful force of moving water. The considerable volume of the Kicking Horse River cut a large hole through rock but left a ledge above the hole as a natural bridge over the river. The photograph shows the ferocious descent of whitewater into the hole and the flat ledge above it (on the right) as well as a path across the river. I exposed two black and white films to be certain that I captured the wall of water in the foreground as it pushed toward the bank. While I admired the power of water, I believed that I could feel spirits of early people who crossed the river on this bridge for many hundreds of years.
