The popular Glacier Point Overlook offers the most stupendous view of Yosemite Valley in the entire park. On this particular day, the sky was clear and I composed an image of Half Dome but decided not to expose the film after concluding that I had already seen that photo a thousand times. After sitting quietly to enjoy the view for an hour, a line of fast moving clouds headed my way. I quickly added an orange-red filter to clear the atmospheric haze substantially, darken the blue sky, enhance structure within the clouds and enhance the coarseness of the rocks. The line of clouds in the photograph visually reinforces the line of the valley walls. A large, high resolution print of this image does a good job of conveying the immensity of the scene through the small size of the very large trees on the valley floor.
