The Great Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado is a wonderful place, indeed. The dune field covers more than 330 square miles at elevations above 8,000 feet. Mountain peaks higher than 14,000 feet add even more beauty to the area. This photo shows splendid textures in the dunes that vary from individual grains of sand in the foreground (probably not visible in this tiny web image) to large complex shapes produced by the combined actions of many forces in the dune field.
