Entering the park from the east on Tioga Pass Highway takes one over a pass at an elevation of nearly 10,000 feet. While staying in Lee Vining east of the park, I drove this road twice a day on my way to other locations in the park. As I drove by each day, I admired the trees shown in this image and tried to think of the best way to photograph them. I stopped one morning at daybreak when the light was flat to record this photograph and am happy with the softness that the light provided. A large, high resolution print shows a generous amount of detail that adds considerably to the photograph's character.
