The power of water to cut through rock is demonstrated at Sunrift Gorge in Glacier National Park. A moderately slow shutter speed was used to blur the water enough to make it "silky smooth" but not so much that water flow patterns lost their general form. The power of water to cut through rock is demonstrated at Sunrift Gorge in Glacier National Park. A moderately slow shutter speed was used to blur the water enough to make it "silky smooth" but not so much that water flow patterns lost their general form. A substantial amount of perspective correction was needed with the camera to make the tree on the left stretch upward accurately in the photograph and it was accomplished by tilting the film plane. I think this photograph shows a nice contrast between the smooth water and the rough rock.
